Students from Highcrest Academy have raised almost £2500 to help The Horse Trust.

Since 2013 the school in High Wycombe has chosen a different charity to raise money for.

For the 2018/19 school year they chose The Horse Trust in Speen which has homed old and unwell horses for over 100 years.

Students and staff put on and enjoyed several events for the cause including an Easter Egg Raffle, a disco, a non-uniform day, and a talent show.

The school raised exact £2,443 for the cause, which is hundreds more than they’ve raised before.

Assistant Headteacher, Jon Clarke, said: “I said previously that we look forward to making this year our record year for fundraising at The Highcrest Academy, and I am thrilled this has now come true.

“I am really proud and delighted at the way our students have risen to the challenge, and the way in which we have helped the horses.”

At the start of this year, the trust spoke about how the money was vital in helping the herd over tough weather conditions.

Alice Morgan, the trust’s Director of fundraising, said: “The harsh winter and hot summer of 2018 has meant we have a hay shortage and prices have skyrocketed.

“The donations helped to ensure we had enough forage to feed our animals, and for that we couldn’t be more grateful.”
