Part of a busy A-road in Beaconsfield will be need to be shut overnight for a week for final surfacing works.

Bucks County Council has been creating new junctions of the A355 as part of the long-awaited relief road project and overnight road closures will be needed from the end of this month at the work finishes up.

The closures will be in place from 7.30pm until 6am every night between September 30 and October 5.

The closure will be in place from the Ledborough Lane junction through to Waller Road.

The nighttime closure is required to complete the surfacing of the new junction with Maxwell Road, the junction with Waller Road and the new alignment section of Maxwell Road.

Diversion routes will be "clearly signposted" and advanced notices are currently in place on all major approaches.

Traffic marshals will also be on hand to make sure access to local properties is maintained during the works.

The county council says work on the A355 project is "progressing well" with phase five of the project nearing completion.

A new kerb line has been laid as part of the re-alignment of Maxwell Road and work to decommission the former junction to the A355, construct the verge and install a vehicle restraint system barrier is being finalised.

Mark Shaw, Bucks County Council deputy leader and transport cabinet member, said: “When it comes to road improvements on projects of this type, road closures are unfortunately necessary.

"I would like to thank people for their cooperation up to this point and for their continued patience whilst these closures are in place.

"Hopefully by carrying out these works overnight, any inconvenience caused will be reduced to a minimum.”
