DRIVERS faced severe delays in and out of the city today as traffic was 'gridlocked'.
Queues backed up on the Botley Road, around Frideswide Square, and along the Abingdon Road as vehicles were at a standstill. Delays were also being reported on Woodstock Road, Banbury Road, and St Giles.
Bus companies warned customers of delays up to 40 minutes on most city centre services.
Traffic now gridlocked on Botley, Abingdon, Woodstock & Banbury Road, alongside St. Giles. Delays of up to 40 minutes, to be expected.

Traffic has eased off across most the city heading into the evening. Minor delays are still being reported on the Botley Road and Abingdon Road.
It comes after months of misery for drivers as cotinued works on the Botley Road have had an impact on traffic.
Temporary traffic lights remain on the Botley Road which many are blaming for the traffic gridlock.
