A Marlow grocery shop has happily offered their services to one of the town’s primary schools, where they’ll donate fruit and vegetables on a weekly basis, despite declining sales.

Marlow Green, who is based in Morris Place, will give food to Marlow Bottom Preschool CIO, which will be eaten by the children during their break time.

After the agreement was made, Mr. Farhi allowed the preschool’s manager Tina Norler and one of the children, Niamh Waite, to attend the shop for the first time on Sunday, October 13.

Niamh had a free reign of choice at what she thought her fellow friends would eat, and with the guidance of Mrs. Horler of course, Niamh chose mini cucumbers, organic oranges and a punnet of vibrant strawberries.

This is despite the shop averaging 10-15 customers a day following their grand opening in March this year.

Mohamed Farhi, who runs the shop said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed our first six months of trading in the town and are pleased to be able to support local children in this way.

“Marlow Bottom Preschool provides the children with a healthy snack twice a day and where better for it to come from than the local greengrocers supplying organic produce.

“We look forward to providing the children with their snacks on a weekly basis going forward.”

All of the produce comes from the Old Spitalfields Market in London.

The preschool’s manager Tina Horler then added: “We are very grateful to Marlow Green for agreeing to donate produce for the children’s snacks.

“It is very important to us that the children eat healthily while they are in our care, but unfortunately the fruit and vegetables we provide aren’t covered by the fees and Government funding.

“As a charity, we work hard to raise money through various fundraising activities.

“This partnership is extremely significant as it means that what we raise can now be directed to support the children’s education and learning.”

Earlier this week, the Bucks Free Press ran an article about how Marlow Green was struggling for customers just seven months after opening.

In our exclusive interview with Mr. Fahri, he revealed that after a very good first two months, customers have decreased since the end of May, but he hopes his luck will change soon.
