A charity manager has vowed not to let a callous thief who stole laptops and phones from their building stop them from helping families in crisis.

In the early hours of Wednesday, October 9, an intruder scaled a drain pipe on Central Aid's warehouse in West Richardson Street and got into the building by damaging a first floor window.

Central Aid gives away furniture, white goods and electrical items as a subsidised cost to those who are on benefits or who have low income.

After getting into the building, the thief stole laptops and phones from Central Aid's first floor tenant Buckinghamshire Mind.

The intruder tried to get into the sales floor where cash and stock is stored - but fortunately they were unable to get inside because the doors were locked.

CCTV footage apparently shows the thief pacing around the building, trying to open several doors and looking at different electric items that were awaiting safety testing.

The charity will now have invest more in security measures for the warehouse - and the stolen items will also have to be replaced by the charity.

Central Aid is now appealing for help to find the thief who stole the electronic items - and hopes members of the public may come forward to donate cash to fund the extra security measures.

Stuart Allen, the charity's general manager said: "This was an incredibly disappointing incident. But for an organisation who has helped over 1,500 people in the last four years this won't stop us assisting local families in crisis."

The thief is described as being male, possibly white or Asian, aged between 20 and 40 with a beard.

He was seen on CCTV wearing white trainers, a baseball cap and carrying a holdall bag.

Central Aid operates two premises in High Wycombe - the main furniture warehouse on West Richardson Street and the separate charity shop at 142 Desborough Road.
