Local councils deal with thousands of planning applications every year.

They range from house owners wanting to build an extension to new homes, shops, businesses and even chopping down trees.

Here are some of the best projects announced from last week - the council will now consider whether each should go ahead.

1) 123 Holtspur Top Lane, Holtspur, Beaconsfield: A proposal to demolish the existing building here to erect a new dwelling. The new dwelling will be much more spacious and have four bedrooms instead of three. A big project if approved.

2) Oakfield, 18 School Lane, Chalfont St Peter: An application to demolish the existing garage and erect a two-storey side extension. This will add an extra two bedrooms to the current three-bed property and will also add a family room and a study.

3) Sunrise House, Harvest Hill, Hedsor: A proposal for the demolition of the existing dwelling, garages and studio and erection of two detached dwellings with associated garages and alterations to existing access points. Both new houses would be 5 bed properties if approved.

5) Avalon, Shootacre Lane, Princes Risborough: Householder application for demolition of existing single storey elements to front and rear, garage conversion to habitable living space, single storey rear extension, open front porch, external alterations to existing materials and fenestration and detached storage sheds.
