A man was found with stab wounds in his chest and arm outside High Wycombe railway station on Friday night.
It is believed the man, who is in his twenties, was stabbed in the Amersham Hill area but made his way to the station, where he was found at around 8pm.
Two people - a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old man, both from High Wycombe - have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent.
The injured man - who had stab wounds in his chest and arm - was rushed to hospital where he remains today.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and made a particular appeal for anyone who saw a silver Ford Focus estate in the area.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Tom Digby, of Force CID based at High Wycombe police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to please come forward.
“Although the victim was found outside the train station we believe he may have sustained his injuries in the Amersham Hill area, making his way to the station after it happened.
“I would urge any motorists who were in the local area around the time of this incident to please check any dash-cam footage in case it may have captured something that could assist us with the investigation.
"In particular, I would appeal to anyone who saw a silver Ford Focus estate."
It is the third stabbing in High Wycombe this month.
