A man was battered with a baseball bat in his own home after a gang broke in and attacked him in High Wycombe. 

The man - in his thirties - was at home in Gayhurst Road yesterday afternoon when four men forced their way into his home. 

They hit him repeatedly with a baseball bat before running off towards Welles Road. 

The man was left with serious injuries including fractures to his ribs and vertebrae and a collapsed lung.

He was rushed to hospital and is still there today receiving treatment. 

The gang are described as four black men wearing dark hooded tops and balaclavas.

Three of the men were around 6ft tall, the fourth man was shorter.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jonathan Harland, based at High Wycombe police station said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident that has left a man with grievous bodily harm level injuries to please come forward.

“I would also urge any motorists who were in the area around the time of the incident to check dash-cam footage in case may have captured something that could assist with the investigation."
