THIS year’s Poppy Appeal was officially launched in High Wycombe at the weekend.
Dignitaries from across the town descended on the Eden Shopping Centre in the town on Saturday to celebrate the launch of the appeal ahead of this month’s Remembrance events.
It was officially launched by the appeal’s president and town mayor Cllr Maz Hussain - and he was joined by Wycombe District Council chairman Cllr Paul Turner, Cllr Tony Green, Reverend Hugh Ellis from All Saints Parish Church and Wycombe MP Steve Baker and a host of other guests.
Cadets from the High Wycombe Sea Cadets and from 332 Squadron Air Training Corps were also present for the ceremony.
After the launch, the cadets joined members of the Royal British Legion in selling poppies and raising money for this year’s appeal.
The poppy appeal will see volunteers selling poppies in the Eden Centre every Friday and Saturday up until Remembrance Day.
