A renowned author visited students at Beaconsfield High School.

Year 8 and 9 students at Beaconsfield High School welcomed author Francis Hardinge for a talk and got the chance to interview her.

Frances has written many successful books such as ‘A Skinful of Shadows’, ‘Cuckoo Song’ and most recently ‘Deeplight’.

The 46-year-old British writer answered various questions from the students, many of whom were fans.

One student asked where she gets her inspiration from to which she replied: “Everywhere, most writers have brains like deranged magpies.”

Tasha Seal, Beaconsfield High School’s Librarian, said: “We were incredibly excited when Frances Hardinge agreed to come in and talk to our Year 8 and 9 students.

“Many of them are avid readers of her books, so they were delighted to meet the person behind the words!

“Author visits really inspire our students to read more widely, write creatively and appreciate what it takes to become a published author, and for this reason we aim to get one author in every term to talk to our students about their books and what it takes to be a successful writer.”
