Tickets are now on sale for Lionel Bart’s classic musical “Oliver!” presented by Iver’s award-winning amateur theatre society The Richings Players from November 27 to 30.
The classic tale of ‘Oliver’ depicts a malnourished orphan in a workhouse who becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker.
Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by Fagin.
When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the victim takes him in.
Fearing for the safety of his hideout, Fagin tries to kidnap OIiver, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.
The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show based on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist is directed by Lisa Delasalle, joined by Toby Stafford-Allen as Musical Director and Beth Mackerness as Lead Choreographer with “innovative, immersive staging, stunning hand-made costumes”.
Director Lisa said: “For as long as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with musicals and ‘Oliver’ in particular.
“I have loved directing this timeless classic, getting to know the characters in much more detail, superbly portrayed by my incredible cast.
“My excitement for you, our audiences on stepping into the streets of Victorian London and meeting the likes of Oliver, Dodger, Nancy and Fagin is palpable and on behalf of the society, I look forward to welcoming you, helping you to consider yourselves part of the Richings Players family!”
From Wednesday November 27 to Friday November 29, the performance will begin at 7:30pm, and on the Saturday the performances will be at 1pm which is sold out and 6pm, at the Iver Village Hall.
