Sports Car Club members go into overdrive to help Hospice patients

Generous members of a classic sports car club have raised money to help patients at South Bucks Hospice.

The Wycombe Area MG Owners Club raised £2,500 for the South Bucks Hospice by organising various events throughout the last year.

These included an afternoon tea in a member's garden, a St. George's Day run to the Tropical Rainforest at Thatcham near Newbury and the Octagonal Run to The Shuttleworth Collection museum.

The club, which has an active membership of more than 100 MG lovers, meets on the first Wednesday of each month at The Gate pub in Bryants Bottom.

Secretary of the club Keith Darbon presented the cheque to Community Fundraiser for the hospice Ben O'Keefe earlier this month at its annual meeting at the Butterfly House in High Wycombe.

Ben said: “This was a wonderful gesture and the money that members and their friends have donated will be of enormous benefit to the patients and their families who rely so heavily on the services of South Bucks Hospice.

“Our hospice helps people with progressive, life-threatening or terminal illnesses and provides a range of support services to assist families and patients.

“However, only a small amount of money comes from the NHS, so we rely on donations such as this to help us.”
