Chiltern Community Forum results – the community’s top crime concerns

The results from Novembers Chiltern Community Forum have been collated and highlight the main concerns of citizens in Amersham, Chesham, the Chalfont’s and the Missenden’s.

The online survey was available for a few weeks before the results were collected and discussed at a meeting at the Misbourne School on November 27.

The results from the quarterly surveys showed that the top three concerns continue to be residential burglary, drug dealing and speeding.

Bucks Free Press:

Residential burglary was a top concern in all areas, specifically Amersham where 90% of participants stated that it was their top concern.

In Chesham drug dealing was a second concern for residents and the Missenden’s it was speeding.

Bucks Free Press:

The survey also reflected recent incidents of antisocial behaviour as well at the under 18’s survey highlighting that knife crime was a big concern for these younger individuals.

Decisions for the top 3 Neighbourhood Policing priorities will be decided from these results.

Robert Gilson from the Chiltern Community Forum said: “With police funding squeezed in recent years, and greater resources channelled to national priorities such as terrorism, it can be difficult for local communities to understand where they sit within law and order priorities.

Bucks Free Press:

“The surveys allow all Chiltern residents to participate in setting neighbourhood policing priorities.

“The Forum meetings are an important opportunity to have frank, open discussions on policing around the Chiltern area.

Bucks Free Press:

“Because young people’s concerns may well differ from those of adult and older residents, we are anxious that they are reflected in the Forum’s decisions.”

The next set of survey’s and meetings will happen in February 2020.
