This week we asked our readers to vote for their favourite pub in the county.

As the icy weather begins to close in on us this December its apparent that the beer garden season is a distant memory.

Now it’s all about enjoying great food and drink but instead indoors, preferably by a crackling fire.

1) Clayton’s Marlow, Marlow - This one received many rave reviews from readers. This pub is tucked just behind the busy High Street and is known for it’s delicious cocktails. One reader said: “You’re always guaranteed a good night there. Great music and cocktails and lovely staff. I always try and go when they have a big DJ.”

2)The Falcon Pub, Wooburn Green -This pub has a rich wooden interior, with a cosy-feel, making it the perfect spot for harsh winter evenings. One reader said: “Keeps it’s authentic 17th century style and rustic country pub feel. Friendly staff, great food & wonderful community feel.

3) The Gate, Bryants Bottom -This typical British village pub is tucked away in the rolling hills of the Chiltern and serves drinks from Rebellion, Tring Brewery, and Vale Brewery. One customer said: “Great service and very cute setting. Love the open fire. The food is good and prices are reasonable.”

4)The General Havelock, High Wycombe -This establishment has been family run for 25 years. The pub has been mentioned in the Good Beer Guide for 24 consecutive years and guarantee to offer at least six real ales at one time. One customer said: “Went with a friend, what an exceptional gem this place is - cosy with the friendliest staff who made me feel so welcome and the food was amazing. Recommend thoroughly.”

5) The Swan, Amersham - This pub is set in a quaint old-looking building with a stunning and stylish interior. They serve a variety of food and drink as well as a extensive vegan menu so all tastes will be catered for. One customer said: “Lovely ambience, friendly staff and lovely food.”
