Carers Bucks - a charity which supports young carers in the county - has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.
The Co-op is looking to support organisations that make a difference to their local communities including helping people to reach their potential by developing their skills, or promoting health and wellbeing.
When members shop at Co-op, one per cent of what they spend on selected branded products and services will go to help fund community projects.
Stephen Archibald, chief executive of Carers Bucks, said: “Our target is to raise £15,000 so we can continue to provide a dedicated space, the ‘Own Zone’, for young carers to get support, advice and guidance and as importantly, to have fun and be children again.
“It’s a safe environment for young carers to talk about their issues and struggles such as ‘How do I help my mum when depressions makes her cry every day?’ or ‘Is my dad going to get better? What will happen if he doesn’t?’”
Carers Bucks’ Young Carers service supports young carers aged six to 18-years-old in Buckinghamshire who are caring for a family member who could not manage without their support.
