Former Conservative MP Dominic Grieve has stated the blimp flying around Beaconsfield, ‘doesn’t bother him in the slightest’.

This comes after Ian Caldwell, who owns Timberstore Ltd on Pyebush Lane in the town, has flown the huge inflatable across the south of Buckinghamshire to express his anger towards the ex MP of Beaconsfield.

Mr Caldwell is a supporter of Brexit, whilst Mr Grieve is against the UK leaving the EU.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press on the day of Marlow’s hustings, Mr Grieve said: “The blimp campaign is very bizarre because people are coming up to me, asking why I am flying a blimp over Beaconsfield.

“But the blimp actually says, ‘Out With Grieve’, but it is so high up that people think that this is a blimp being flown by me.

“Now, the individual who is flying it has been in the past a UKIP supporter and very vociferous.

“And as for his blimp, it’s a matter for him.

“Whether he’s breaking the law by flying the blimp is another matter, but he has got to be answerable for what he does.

“I’m not going to get worried about it and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

“It’s no different from somebody putting up a poster if they want to in a free country.

“Why should I be bothered?

“It’s one individual who wants to fly a blimp so I’m totally, totally untroubled by it.

“The irony is that I’ve had people come up to me in the street and say to me, ‘I like your blimp’.

“I think the blimp has encouraged people to know who I am and for some people to vote for me.

“I’m well passed that to worry about blimps.”

Mr Grieve was speaking to the BFP on the day of Marlow’s hustings, where he and his team were campaigning in the town on why he should be the town’s MP.

Marlow’s hustings took place at the town’s All Saints Church where hundreds of people from all over the town attended.

Those who are hoping to be the town’s next MP are Adam Cleary (Independent), Alexa Collins (Labour), Dominic Grieve (Independent), Zoe Hatch (Green Party) and Joy Morrissey (Conservative).

The election is on December 12.
