The Amersham and Chesham Lions held their annual parcel scheme last Saturday.

The collections were held at Waitrose and Sainsbury's n Chesham on December 7, where shoppers were invited to buy an extra item and leave it in the collection trolleys at the exits.

Pupils from Chesham Grammar School and Chiltern Hills Academy, as well as members of Amersham and Chesham Rotary Clubs helped with the collections and assistance was given by the local foodbank.

Dame Cheryl Gillan, Lions Vice-President Bob Roe, Amersham Town Mayor Mar Flys, and Amersham Rotary President Barbara Cursely helped make up some parcels.

301 individual food bags and 30 family boxes were then made up and distributed to those in need across Amersham and Chesham.

The Lions Club aims to improve the quality of life for those living in the area by members raising money for various charities and projects in the area.

Since the Amersham and Chesham Lions Club was formed in 1969 over £400,000 has been raised.
