A resident at Rushymead Residential Care Home in Amersham was delighted to receive a husky shaped cake for her 79th birthday.

Resident Shelia loves huskies, so the staff wanted to make her birthday special last week.

Devon and Lorraine Farrelly work as kitchen staff at the care home and for every resident’s birthday or special occasions make specially crafted cakes.

These have included cakes shaped like the Titanic, various dogs, and ones covered with poppies for Remembrance Day.

Staff and residents sang happy birthday to Shelia and she was delighted with her cake.

Shelia also received a handwritten letter and cuddly toy husky from Saints Sled Dog Rescue, a charity which help unwanted and stray huskies across the UK.

Manager of the home Bev explained how much the residents love the cakes and how they really try to keep care they provide “person-centred by making it [birthdays] special to the residents.”
