A POST Office service is being restored to Datchet after two years - but it is only a temporary solution.

The previous Post Office service closed two years ago after the two-year-old contract with Datchet Food and Wine Shop failed to work out.

Now a temporary service is to be provided at St Mary's Church in London Road - one day a week Tuesdays between 8.30am and 12.30pm starting January 7 and run through an 'outreach service' by a local postmaster.

Antoinette Chitty, Post Office Change Manager, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring Post Office services to the area and we hope that customers will continue to use the service.”

The Post Office is understood to be still looking for a way of providing a permanent seven day a week service.
