A long-standing councillor who was the first female mayor in Princes Risborough has sadly passed away.

Eunice Clifford was born and bred in Princes Risborough and educated in the town.

She stepped down after 13 years as a Princes Risborough town councillor in 2012, aged 70.

The news of her death was announced by Princes Risborough town council on Wednesday, who said: β€œIt is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of ex-Chairman and Town Mayor, Mrs Eunice Clifford.

β€œA born and bred Risborough resident. Eunice's colleagues and friends at the Town Council will greatly miss her and our thoughts go to her family at this sad time.”

Mrs Clifford, a grandmother and great grandmother, was known for speaking her mind during her time on the town council and she was mayor of Risborough for a year in 2011/2012.

She was rewarded for her contribution in the town in April 2019, being voted citizen of the year at the annual town meeting and civic award ceremony.
