Police are warning the public to be aware of roof scamming in Chesham and the surrounding areas.
An elderly resident in Chesham was approached by a cold caller offering to clean their gutters on January 6.
The 'Rogue Traders' then removed tiles and mortar, telling the resident they were doing so due to 'old damage'.
The home owner was then quoted around £4000 to repair.

The police said: "Please be vigilant of any cold callers.
"Rogue Traders will play on your fears and make you feel that you need to take immediate action to stop later larger bills.
"If you do need work carried out seek recommendations through friends or family.
"Trading Standards recommend reviewing Checkatrade.com so you can see reviews from other customers."
