A dramatic new move to unite a whole range of health services into one holistic body could transform the way people in Slough are served.
Slough Borough Council has commissioned the company Solutions 4 Health to bring together services mainly aimed at reaching people before they become seriously unwell. It would work in partnership with the Oxfordshire NHS Trust which specialises in providing physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages, as well as Active Movement which works to reduce obesity in the young
The new combined service would be available in a range of locations working with existing providers to support people who have multiple health issues or are at risk of developing more serious health conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease. The new service will commence on 1 April – a local consultation is underway to decide on a name
Councillor Natasha Pantelic, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “I’m very much looking forward to this new service which will bring together children’s health services, healthy eating, stop smoking, physical activity, cardio wellness and mental wellbeing services into one holistic support offer. This will make it easier for residents to navigate and receive the support they need.”
