Much-loved member of the Chesham community and master butcher Gerry Martins has sadly passed away.

His death was announced publicly on January 24 and tributes have poured in online for the owner of Gerry Martins - Master Butcher.

The butchers located on Chesham High Street has been popular with locals for years, and due to Gerry's kind-nature, friendliness and love for his occupation he became a prominent figure in the town.

He was known to be very generous and would donate turkey and pigs and blankets for the McMinn Christmas lunch every year.

Hundreds of comments poured in on the post which announced Gerry's passing, all shocked and saddened by the news and reminiscing about the kind man he was.

Many commented on his "great sense of humour" and how they often looked forward going into the butchers to chat with Gerry.

One commenter said "a little bit of Chesham passes with him", a real indication of how highly he was respected in the community, with another describing him as a "local legend".

Flowers have since been left outside of his shop.
