Wycombe’s home match against Bristol Rovers this weekend will be dedicated to a 13-year-old boy who recently died of sepsis.

Oliver Darlington, who died of the illness at the start of January, will be remembered at Adams Park on February 8 as more than 350 parents and players from Downley Dynamos FC will join friends and family of Oliver to pay their respects.

The 13-year-old was an avid Wycombe supporter and played for Downley Dynamos for several years.

Wycombe have invited Oliver’s immediate family to watch the game against Bristol Rovers from two executive boxes.

Additionally, all the proceeds from the ticket sales from the large Dynamos group will be donated back to Downley to assist with renovations to their changing room facilities, in Oli's memory.

Parents from the team will also be collecting donations from supporters before the match towards a memorial bench, which is planned to be installed on the Pedestal playing fields in West Wycombe where Downley train and play.

And all supporters are asked to join in with a minute's applause in the 11th minute - Oli's shirt number at Downley - as a mark of respect.

Writing in his programme notes for the game, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: "I’m so sorry that tragically we lost another member of the Wycombe family just after New Year.

Oliver Darlington was a keen footballer and one of our proud young fans here, and my heart goes out to his family and friends, who I know are with us in great numbers.

"I can only admire your strength at this tough time and I know Oliver’s family want to raise the awareness of this terrible condition, a truly amazing thing to do, thinking of others, in light of what has happened."
