The people of Marlow have expressed their excitement about the town potentially getting a cinema.

We reported on February 6 that Everyman Cinema are in the process of drawing up planning application which will be submitted to Wycombe District Council.

And on February 12, we brought to you that Firefly Events, who have organised pop-up cinemas in the town, believe the idea will be great for Marlow.

But what do the people of Marlow think?

On our Facebook page, Dee Watson said: “It really would benefit Marlow, good idea,” whilst Anna Dowler said: “It would be a great attraction.”

Kane Baker said: “Absolutely [this is a great idea]. It can only bring the place up a notch," with Vincent Bates adding, “Brilliant, let’s have it.”

The news was first announced at the start of February via Marlow FM on Michael Eagleton’s midweek show where he had councillor Suzanne Brown as his guest, who revealed the potential plans.

The could-be cinema will more than likely be built on the former Market Hall/Crown Hotel/Steamer Trading Company premises, which will see it turn into a two-screen cinema with sofas and a bar.

However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

On Facebook, Lucy Fox said: “I would love that [to happen] whilst Serena Spencer-Jones showed her enthusiasm by saying, “yes, yes, yes!”

If Everyman were to have a cinema in Marlow, it will only be the second one to be in the county.

The other Everyman Cinema is in Gerrards Cross.
