STAFF members from a Rhos-on-Sea restaurant are joining forces to raise money for children's charity Cash for Kids.

Ben Keane, who works at Hickory's Smokehouse, aims to hike up Snowdon three times in one day with his bar team colleagues Mark Rogers, Simon Poyner, Sam Trowman and Sean Piercy.

The challenge has been coined Mission Snowdon 3.0.

The determined group are hoping they can raise £2,000 towards the charity, which responds to the needs of children in communities so they can live life to the full.

Ben said: "There are six main routes up Wales' tallest mountain and we will be either going up or down every route.

"This isn't something any of us have attempted before and we are all pretty nervous to say the least.

"We have all been preparing by going on extensive hill walks and hitting the gym.

"The reason for choosing Cash for Kids as our chosen charity is the great work they do in our community and it's something close to all our hearts.

"As a company, Hickory's has raised more than £100,000 for Cash for Kids and a lot of our team helped with their 'Mission Christmas' campaign in November/December, helping to put together gift packages for children that would otherwise receive nothing for Christmas."

The challenge, to take place on Wednesday, February 26 [weather permitting], is expected to take about 15 hours.

Ben added: "Our target is to raise as much as possible for this great cause and we have set a target of at least £2,000 as a minimum.

"Everything raised in our area stays in our area, with a focus on alleviating poverty, supporting disability and improving quality of life."
