Engineers will start ground investigation work on Monday March 2 in preparation for the conversion of the Crest Road roundabout at Cressex, High Wycombe, to a junction controlled by traffic lights.

The junction needs improved capacity and better traffic flow ahead of the planned development of 'Cressex Island'.

Work will be done at night - from 8pm to 5.30am - to avoid disrupting daytime school, business and shopping traffic, and is due to finish by Friday March 13.

While engineers are working overnight in John Hall Way, there will be a westbound lane closure and traffic will be reduced to single lane with three-way temporary traffic lights.

Buckinghamshire County Council has commissioned the contractors to check the condition of the drainage system, excavate trial pits to establish the location of utilities, and test the condition of the road foundations.

Mark Shaw, Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member, said the preparation work was being done in close collaboration with Wycombe District Council.

He added: "This is a very busy area during the day, which is why we've instructed our contractors to work at night, and they will try to keep noise to a minimum.

"I apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause."
