A group of volunteers from South Bucks will be walking in the air this summer, as they’ll be taking part in a wing walk.

The Wing Warriors, who are made up of supporters for the NSPCC, are aiming to raise around £5,000 for the charity.

Those who will be doing the walk are Hilary Spearing, who runs The Functional Fitness Studio in High Wycombe, which caters to those who have MS, Parkinson’s and other conditions.

Valerie, who spearheaded the wing walk, said: “The wing walk is about spreading the message of all the great work that the NSPCC do, as well as having fun, raising awareness and raising money for a great cause.

“There are so many things going on when it comes to fundraising for the NSPCC as people have done stuff like selling raffle tickets, Easter Egg hunts, quiz nights – you name it.

“And all the money raised goes towards this brilliant cause and I think it’s important to remember that the NSPCC is not funded by the government, so we are counting on fundraising and donations.”

The inspiration for the wing walk came after one of Valerie’s friends did the same activity for the Hungary Hearts Dog Rescue, where thousands of pounds was raised.

And as well as raising money for the charity through the stunt, Valerie is also hoping that others will be able to come forward and give up their time to help the charity.

Valerie added: “My son has often been involved with toy stalls, selling snacks at the school gate amongst other activities.

"It’s lovely doing charitable work with your children as you’re teaching some wonderful values to your kids and your kid’s friends.

The wing walk will take place at the RFC Rendcomb Airfield in Cirencester in Gloucestershire on Wednesday, July 15.
