A man was stabbed in a residential road in High Wycombe and rushed to hospital.

Part of Spearing Road in Castlefield was cordoned off on Tuesday afternoon after police were called just after 4pm to reports of an "altercation in progress".

Today, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police confirmed that a man was stabbed - and another person has been arrested.

The man who stabbed was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital with a serious, but not life threatening injury.

A 55-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and has been released on police bail until April 14.

Anybody who witnessed the incident should call 101, quoting URN 805 (17/3).

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Peter Wall of High Wycombe CID, said: “We are confident that this is an isolated incident and the victim and offender are known to each other.

“Although I appreciate incidents such as this cause concern in the local community, I believe that this was contained very swiftly and there is no wider threat to the public.”
