A church in High Wycombe is hoping to live stream services from this Sunday onwards as the coronavirus continues to spread.

The Methodist church in High Wycombe, which is one of the nine Methodist churches in their circuit, are hoping to provide the live stream option to church goers who will not be able to attend regular services.

They are also hoping to set up podcasts and thoughts of the day via their website whilst certain individuals in the county self-isolate.

Graham Everitt, who is part of the scheme, said: “We didn’t want to penalise the elderly or the vulnerable in our community and we want to give them a message of hope.

“Ideas that we have got include a giving a thought of the day which they could read or see, and hopefully, we’ll have a video clip message for them.

“Sunday just gone at the Marlow Methodist Church, we had a live stream on Facebook for an hour-and-a-half and we had people who had not been to a service before leaving us comments and it was nice to see.”

Graham, along with other churchgoers, are hoping to set up a live studio from the church in Marlow and broadcast across the circuit before putting the services on the church’s website.

The nine Methodist churches as part of this circuit are in High Wycombe, Marlow, Marlow Bottom, Flackwell Heath, Downley, Cryers Hill, Holmer Green, Wesley and The Avenue.

Graham added: “Marlow Methodist Church which is part of the Wycombe District, has a technical expert there and we are currently in the process of setting up a live broadcast service and a daily podcast which will be put on the circuit website.

“The church, worship and faith gatherings have all been advised not to take part in services even if they were to separate at the church.

“These could leave the vulnerable members of our community left behind, as they look at church as a social aspect and this isn’t just for a Sunday, but this is during the week as well.

“So we wanted to help everyone who will be impacted."
