A pensioner had her purse stolen in a distraction burglary in Bourne End – and police think this man may have vital information about what happened.

The elderly woman, who is in her eighties, apparently received a knock on her door at her home at around 9.50am on Saturday (March 21).

The man at the door pretended he was there to check her house for “health and safety purposes”.

The pensioner initially refused to let the man enter, but he threatened her with arrest if she did not comply with his orders.

Once inside her home, the man demanded she hand over cash.

Fortunately, the woman was not injured, but her purse went missing.

Police have released CCTV of a man who may be able to provide important clues about the burglary.
