The M40 has been forced to shut this morning because horses escaped into the road.
The motorway has been cordoned off by police at junction 1 for Denham in both directions in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police cordoned off the motorway so they could be detained and put into a horse box that was coming to collect them.
The #M40 is currently closed at junction 1 #Denham in both directions while we detain some unwanted visitors. Horse box en-route to collect. You can come off at the junction and back on the other side so only a slight diversion @HighwaysEAST #P6678 #P1342 #P7111 pic.twitter.com/E1InkzSEQA

Highways England warned drivers to avoid the area at around 4.45am.
They said: "There's some horsing around happening at J1, ourselves and Thames Valley Police Roads Policing are on scene with both carriageways stopped while we work out how to catch a pair of naughty ponies. Please avoid the area for now."
