The confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Buckinghamshire have now increased to 300, according to the Government’s latest figures.

Updated daily by Public Health England, the stats now show that 32 people caught Covid-19 overnight, bringing the total from 268 to 300 in the county.

This also happened on the same day that Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he was in hospital with the illness.

He was later moved into an intensive care unit.

Before being moved into the ICU in the evening of April 6, Prime Minster Boris Johnson said on Twitter: “Last night, on the advice of my doctor, I went into hospital for some routine tests as I’m still experiencing coronavirus symptoms.

“I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe.

“I’d like to say thank you to all the brilliant NHS staff taking care of me and others in this difficult time.

“You are the best of Britain.

“Stay safe everyone, and please remember to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.”

In the official Upper Tier Local Authorities (UTLA) and NHS Regions list, Buckinghamshire are ranked in 48th place, sandwiched between Norfolk which have 301 cases and Camden, which have 298 cases.

There are149 local authorities in the current NHS Regions list, with Birmingham currently in top spot with 1,287 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

In the UK, there have been a total of 51, 608 cases of the coronavirus where 5,373 people have sadly lost their lives due to the illness.

Most recently, there were 3,802 confirmed cases across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on April 6, where 439 people died.

In total, 42,990 people in England have contracted the illness since the first case at the end of February, whilst 3,961, 3,499 and 1,158 have caught the virus in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland respectively.

Globally, 1,358,950 have had the illness whilst 75,897 have died from Covid-19.

However, 293,454 have recovered fully from the illness, which includes Marlow’s Matt Dockray, who contracted the virus at the end of February/start of March.
