UPDATE: The man in the photo came forward, so police are no longer appealing for him to be identified. Police are still appealing for witnesses to the attack to come forward. 

A woman was punched in the head at a popular High Wycombe park – and police have released images of a man who may have vital information about the attack.

The woman was attacked at The Rye on Tuesday, April 7, at around 11.40am. The man who punched her then walked off in the direction of The Pheasant pub on London Road.

The woman, in her forties, was left with swelling and bruising to her eye which had to be treated in hospital.

Police have released images of a man they think may have vital information about the assault and urged him to come forward.

Investigating officer, PC Marcus Rose, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “I am releasing an image of this man, as I believe he may have important information about this incident.

“I am appealing for anyone who recognises him, or if you believe this is you, to please come forward.”
