High Wycombe residents have blasted proposals to build a new shipping container restaurant in the town.

Plans to put another shipping container restaurant next door to a converted shipping container pizza restaurant called Pizza 1889 were announced earlier this week.

Although its progress was hindered by the coronavirus outbreak, Pizza 1889 says they are ready to welcome customers as soon as the current pandemic is over.

The proposals have been met with anger from a selection of Bucks Free Press readers, who criticised how the proposals would look.

Here are some of the comments left on the original story, which you can read here.

MOTR: "Anyone would think there's a shortage of empty retail units in the town.

and the winner is..?: "Why was the Eden shopping centre given the green light and why on Earth does anyone think a 'cabin' is essential for Eden?

"This illustrates the poor planning in the first place. Has anybody walked from the High Street towards Eden - there are plenty of empty shops

"I wish WDC would provide support to local businesses and subsidise these units so local businesses can prosper."

Scud0433a: "By the way WDC have supported shops on the high street I think their intentions are to turn the area into residential, once all the businesses their have moved on."

"Converting a shop from normal retail to a food outlet is quite expansive, let alone conforming to hygiene regulations. and I'm sure the tenants of the residential blocks around eden will enjoy the smells and possible litter.

"Working out of a converted container makes financial sense, but with the number of empty retail units there should have been more thoughts into how to make best use of the empty units available."
