WITH so much more time during lockdown people are trying all sorts of different hobbies.

One easy thing to focus on is cooking. It’s easy to get into the habit of making the same few meals week in and week out and there’s no better time than now to get creative and try different foods with family. Here are five new recipes to try this lockdown.

1) Fajita Bowls - A healthy twist on the classic fajita. Instead here you have the contents set out in a bowl, with all the favourite toppings. Fry up chicken with some cumin, smoked paprika, garlic and coriander, and place on a bed of lettuce. Mash up some avocado with lime juice and chilli for the guacamole, dice some tomatoes and onion with white whine vinegar for the guacamole and put out some sour cream. Add all of these to the bowl and finish off with some grated cheese for a delicious Mexican meal.

2) Vegan lemon and veg pasta - More and more people are going meat-free so this can ensure everyone in the household can eat together. Simply fry up and veg of your choice, add vegetable stock, a teaspoon and wholegrain mustard and the juice of a whole lemon and let it bubble away. Add generous amounts of black pepper and pour over pasta.

3) Beef noodles - Three simple steps for a delicious dinner. Boil up tender stem broccoli, fry up sizzling frying steak with soy sauce, red wine and garlic, and fry egg noodles. Place the noodles in a bowl, top with the broccoli and the steak, pouring the juice over the top.

4) Baked chicken tagliatelle - Slice chicken breasts to fill them with cream cheese, wrap in bacon, place in a dish and pour in a jar of a tomato pasta sauce of your choice. Break up mozzarella and place around the chicken. Bake this in the oven until the chicken is almost cooked through, and then grate cheese on top to crisp over. Place over fresh cooked tagliatelle and get that Italian fix you’ve been craving!

5)Chilli con Carne - One for a quick fix. Fry mince add a pre-made chilli sauce, and have on top of a baked potato.
