A police officer hospitalised after he was attacked whilst carrying out a stop and search in Milton Keynes.

Two Thames Valley Police officers were carrying out a stop and search of three men, two of whom were in a car, at around 6.30pm in Pelham Place, Downs Barn on last Tuesday.

During the search the men tried to get away and assaulted an officer. The officer sustained bruising and swelling to his face and one of his hands.

A 22-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B, producing a controlled drug of class B, assault by beating of an emergency worker, obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of duty and obstructing an authorised person in exercise of section 23 power to detain/search a person/car.

A 21-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug of class B, obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Both men have been released on bail.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable John Swallow, of Force CID, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information about what happened, to please come forward.

“Thankfully the injuries to the officer were not more serious.
