Plans for a major redevelopment in Flackwell Heath have been given the green light by planning officers.

The existing retail areas, workshops and storage buildings at 24 Whitepit Lane in Flackwell Heath will all be demolished.

The site, which is in a largely residential area, currently has four shops, a garage and workshop and a funeral home in the parade.

In their place, developers will build a new head office building, workshops, stores and garages.

Developers say the current buildings are old and have been "unsympathetically extended" and the fresh design would make the site match the character of the area better.

Thirty nine car parking spaces will be provided on the new site when finished.

Neighbours living close to the site submitted a string of comments in relation to the proposal, with some supportive and others rejecting the plans.

One, who supported the development, said: "I am supportive of this redevelopment but have specific concerns around reduction in privacy and enjoyment of my property which I trust will be addressed during the process."

In contrast, another wrote: "The disruption this will cause is large. It cannot be ignored. Building debris and inevitable damage will occur at surrounding homes."

The proposal was approved by the planning officers at Buckinghamshire Council this week.
