A 300-year-old West Wycombe hotel is launching a drive-thru takeaway service in June.

The George and Dragon on West Wycombe High Street, which is celebrating its 300th birthday this year, is opening up a new takeaway service on June 17.

Like the majority of other establishments, the hotel was forced to shut when lockdown was announced back on March 23.

The menu, which has been created by the hotel's award-winning head chef and owner Arnaud Stevens, will include dishes like the ultimate G&G 'Mac' burger, buttermilk fried chicken and pizzettas with wild garlic.

The popular hotel and restaurant was planning a huge birthday celebration in the summer, but because of coronavirus, this will now not be able to go ahead.

Instead, staff are hoping to take steps to get back up and running and celebrate the achievement in early July - while still following all social distancing requirements.

Residents in the village and beyond have still been supporting the hotel during lockdown, with Arnaud going live on social media every Wednesday evening with a cook-along.

More details on the George and Dragon's drive-thru plans are set to be revealed soon.
