Getting locked down is pretty frustrating when you are an enthusiastic young footballer.

But members of Burnham Junior Football Club's under 9s Reds team are not letting all that energy go to waste.

Each player had committed to running the equivalent of a marathon over a two month period to raise money for the mental health charity MIND - quite a challenge for a group of seven to eight year olds.

The team’s coach Richard Earl said: “It would be fantastic if the team could help raise a huge amount of money for MIND. I know they would all be very proud while also completing a big challenge."

They have raised £781 achieved so far and are aiming to get to the £1,000 mark.

The young footballers are now on week two and have run 124 km of their 379 total.

They have until July 3 to reach their goal - even if it is a different sort of 'goal' than they are used to.

The team members are Aden Bishop, Arthur Evans, Arvin Birk, Finley Ward, Frank Earl, Freddie Emery, Heeran Sangha, Olly Edmonds and Teddy Clarke.
