A DRUG dealer who attacked a police officer has pleaded guilty to the offences.

Japheth Matumona appeared at Oxford Crown Court today.

The 19-year-old of Reed Road, London, pleaded guilty at that hearing to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs - cocaine and heroin.

He had already admitted a separate count of possessing heroin and one of assaulting a police officer.

The offences all took place on December 17 last year with the assault of a detention officer taking place at Abingdon Police Station.

The guilty pleas to the offences meant that a trial for the drug dealing, that had been scheduled for next month, was abandoned.

After the pleas had been entered his defence barrister Sarah Taylor asked to adjourn the case so that a pre-sentence report could be prepared.

That report by the National Probation Service will investigate Matumona's personal circumstances and that of his offending.

Presiding Judge Ian Pringle QC agreed to adjourn sentencing while a report is prepared.

He warned that the report 'would go to the length of sentence and not the type.'

Matumona will appear again for sentencing to be heard at the same court on July 9.

He was remanded in custody to await that hearing.
