Rod McCulloch has been announced as the new mayor for Chesham for 2020.
The town councillor for Townsend ward said on Twitter he was “very pleased and honoured to be elected mayor” at the annual meeting of the town council that was held on May 18, adding: “I will do my best to serve the town in these difficult times.”

Mr McCulloch has been volunteering and helping in the town, and is a chairman of the Friends of the Chesham cemetery as well as supporting the Chiltern Society, the National Trust, the Cotswolds Canals Trust and Stroud Court Community Trust.
The Mayor presides over meetings of the council, as well as attending civic and ceremonial functions, such as the Remembrance Sunday parade and Chesham’s Civic Service.

The Mayor also represents Chesham at functions outside the town, including visits to Archena, Friedrichsdorf and Houilles, the towns that Chesham is twinned with in Spain, Germany and France.
