Marlow Rugby Club has confirmed that they have reached 94 per cent of their target to have their new posts installed at Riverwoods.

The club had already purchased the new equipment prior to the current pandemic, as a result of various fundraising efforts over the last 18 months.

The money raised was for all the posts on the club’s four pitches to be replaced.

But, due to coronavirus which saw the 2019/20 rugby season end prematurely, the club needed additional funds to overcome the negative cash flow they suffered to have the posts installed.

In total, the club needed to find £9,000.

And thanks to generosity from the people of Marlow, the club are on the verge of reaching their goal to have their new posts fitted.

The club’s chairman, Jez Povey, said: “I am delighted to update you all that, as of this morning (June 4), we have raised £3,118 on the Just Giving and club fundraising website page, with the 200 Club having donated £5,381.

“This brings the current total to £8,499 and 94% of our target.

“Please help us make it over the line and meet the £9,000 required.

“Our aim is to achieve this within the next week in order that we can schedule the installation of the posts well before the start of the new season.

Throughout pandemic, Marlow Rugby Club has shown their support to the people of the town, by helping the needy, elderly and vulnerable receive food, water, toiletries and medicine.

They also explained to the Bucks Free Press how they aim to continue helping those in need after the pandemic were to pass.

Mr Povey continued: “I am extremely proud of yet another example of our club's membership rising to a 'call to arms' and quickly mobilising to meet and exceed expectations.
