Buckinghamshire Council deals with thousands of planning applications every year, from cutting back trees to building hundreds of homes.

Each week, we take a look at some of the most interesting plans that have been submitted.

Here are the top five from the week beginning June 1.

1. Widmer Farm, Pink Road, Lacey Green - change of use of a riding area to a cafe, aquarium, small animal selling area, dog grooming parlour and warehousing space

Bucks Free Press:

This site is better known as Widmer Feeds, a popular country store and equestrian centre.

Widmer Feeds was given permission to demolish an existing farm building and instead build a new two-storey replacement.

But because of the rapidly changing economic environment surrounding coronavirus, they have decided to change up their plans.

Instead, they have decided to use an existing building to provide the same facilities - the riding arena.

If given the go-ahead, the arena will be turned into a cafe, aquarium fish room, small animal selling area and dog grooming facility.

One building, which has "come to the end of its life", will still be demolished, however.

2. 300 London Road, High Wycombe (former Homebase) - display of 2 wall mounted logo signs

Bucks Free Press:

This application moves forward plans to create a Lidl supermarket on the site of the former DIY store.

Work to turn the building into a viable supermarket is ongoing, with new windows recently put in along the London Road side of the building.

But this new application is for new signage which will show the Lidl logo and help advertise the shop.

They want to show two large wall mounted logo signs, one small internally illuminated wall mounted logo, one illuminated poster display unit and two illuminated wall mounted billboards.

3. 155 London Road, High Wycombe - change of use to a residential children's home

Bucks Free Press:

There is not an awful lot of information about this plan, other than that it has been put forward by Fonjocks Social Work Practice Ltd, a company based in Bury St Edmunds, and it will provide for three children at a time.

It will be registered with and regulated by OFSTED.

The house was last used as house in multiple occupation (HMO), so this application would be to change its use.

4. 9 High Street, Marlow - Listed building application to remove a brick pier within the shop and structural alterations

Bucks Free Press:

This Grade II listed building is right next door to NatWest on Marlow High Street. It is currently empty and is owned by Sorbon Estates, who have put forward these plans.

The planned alterations affect on the ground floor shop area and aims to make the area "more useable" by removing an existing pier and lowering the rear floor to bring the whole shop floor to the same level.

The steps and balustrading in between would also be removed.

Although the building is listed, its layout has been "heavily altered" in the 20th century. If the pier is removed, it will also mean the loss of a small part of the brickwork.

The applicants say the plans are "modest" and would not harm the character of the building.

5. 10 Haw Lane, Bledlow Ridge - erection of a detached four-bed home with parking and bin stores

Bucks Free Press:

If these plans go ahead, a four double bedroom home will be built adjacent to 10 Haw Lane.

The new detached home will make use of the sloping nature of the site, and will be "upside down", with the bedrooms on the lower level.

From street level, applicants say it will only look like a single-storey home.

They add that it will be "in keeping" with the existing house styles in the area.

Along with the house - which will be in the style of a "traditional barn" - a new hard-standing driveway and rear and side turfed garden with a fence will also be built.
