One of the founders of Kyrece’s Legacy has confirmed that the charity’s Wise up to Water campaign, which was due to take place this week as part of Drowning Prevention Week, has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

It will take place once it is safe to do so, with the Wise up to Water campaign being a practical water safety program which helps people develop survival skills when in the water.

The campaign was launched last year, and was supported by Wycombe Leisure Centre.

Tracy Chamberlain, who co-founded the charity, said: “During Drowning Prevention Week assemblies, would normally be held in schools across the county, Wycombe Leisure Centre, RLSS and other organisations would be leading assemblies to promote water safety and raise awareness of the dangers of open water.

Drowning Prevention Week is from Friday, June 12 to Friday, June 19.

“All school swimming lessons would be focused on water safety and personal survival.

“Due to Covid-19. we are encouraging families to take the time to access the resources on the Royal Life Saving Society website and talk about the dangers of water and how to stay safe.”

This year, the Wise up to Water is sponsored by Marlow Roundtable and Court Garden Leisure Centre and is free of charge to all participants.
