A driver in his nineties has died in hospital after his car overturned in a ditch.

The man, driving a white Skoda Citigo, was heading in the direction of Lane End along the B482 Marlow Road in Cadmore End when his car crashed off the road and into a ditch.

It happened at around 5.38pm.

The man, who was in his nineties, suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital. An air ambulance was also called to the scene.

The driver has sadly died in hospital.

His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Investigating officer, Sergeant Mark Gawthrop, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “We have spoken to two people who stopped and assisted at the scene. We are appealing for anyone else who witnessed this tragic incident, or who has any information to please come forward.

“I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams to check any footage in case it may have captured something before the collision or the collision itself that could assist with the investigation.
