A MAN who was found with indecent images of children on his computer has been handed a curfew.

John Rigg, of Risedale Road, Barrow, admitted three separate charges of making indecent images of a child, as well as possession of an extreme pornographic image.

A court heard police received intelligence the 53-year-old was accessing or making indecent images of children at his address and executed a search warrant on April 17, 2019.

They seized a black tower computer.

After they examined the computer equipment, police found two Category A images, one Category B image, two Category C images, and one extreme pornographic image.

The extreme pornographic image portrayed a person performing a sex act with a dog.

The charge said a reasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person or animal was real.

Rigg pleaded guilty to all charges when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court in June and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court.

He was given a two year community order as well as a sexual harm prevention order which will last for five years.

This means he must notify the police of a change in name or address, or if he has any plans to travel outside of the UK. A failure to comply with the notification requirements is an offence.

Rigg was also issued with an electronic monitor which gives him a curfew to stay at his address between 9pm and 6am until September 4.
