This is what a huge new 84-bed care home planned for one of High Wycombe's busiest roads will look like if given the go-ahead.

Care UK is hoping Buckinghamshire Council will allow them to demolish four large detached homes on Marlow Hill and build a care home with cafe, gym, cinema and hairdressers.

New pictures by the care company show what the new building along the A404 near Wycombe Hospital will look like if given the green light.

It would be a two to four-storey grey and cream building with roof terrace areas and big windows.

Bucks Free Press:

Since we reported the new plans earlier this month, Buckinghamshire Council's environmental health team say the site is in an area "exposed" to noise from Marlow Hill, so sound insulation will be needed to protect residents from disturbance.

The team has also insisted four electric vehicle charging points are installed as part of their 32 planned parking spaces.

Thames Water has also said there is currently only capacity on the water network for 21 homes, meaning upgrade works will be needed.

And Thames Valley Police's crime prevention design advisor for Wycombe, Aylesbury, South Bucks and Chiltern, Joanna Haley, said some areas of the building's layout could be "problematic in terms of crime and anti-social behaviour".

Bucks Free Press:

She said access controls on pedestrian gateways and on the bin store and cycle store should be included because these are "often adversely affected by crime and anti-social behaviour".

So far, one resident has objected to the plans, saying the building will be an "overwhelming and unwelcome vista on entering the town from the south".

She added: "The problem of access to Marlow Hill can only really be appreciated by people who know and live in the area.

"This is an extremely busy road... traffic jams and gridlock are a daily occurrence and this proposed development will clearly exacerbate this."

However, in a travel plan put together for the company, Care UK said they will be seeking to reduce private car journeys made by employees and encourage greater use of public transport and cycling.
