Naked men were reportedly walking around in the Chesham countryside at the weekend - prompting a call to police.

The Chesham Neighbourhood Police Team said they were called by someone who reported "some gentlemen walking around the countryside without any clothes on" on Sunday.

Police attended the scene and said they encountered "more than just this view", sharing a photo of the field they went to.

Officers said: "If you happen to feel the need to undress in public, please be aware of who you may come across and how you might offend them."

But is being naked in public actually illegal?

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) says a balance "needs to be struck between the naturist's right to freedom of expression and the right of the wider public to be protected from harassment, alarm and distress".

The CPS adds that if there is no "sexual context" and the person has no intention of causing alarm or distress, it may be appropriate not to take any action.

It could be an offence if it can be proved that the naked person intended to upset or shock.
