A recognisable face was seen on Marlow’s High Street over the weekend.

Actor Will Mellor, who is best known for his roles in Hollyoaks, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and No Offence, came to south Bucks for an important engagement… to have his eyes tested at the town’s Specsavers.

The 44-year-old had originally booked his appointment prior to lockdown but this was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

Speaking about his visit to Marlow’s Specsavers branch, Will said: “The staff were great, they are really good people and really helpful.

“They helped me choose a frame to suit my face that I am really pleased with.

“The correct safety measure were all in place in store and everything was done really efficiently."

Jayven Athwal, store director at Marlow Specsavers, says: “I was really pleased to see Will coming in now that we are fully open and taking care of his eye health.

“Now that lockdown has eased, it is crucial those that have missed sight tests get booked in again soon.

“We are doing our utmost in store to make our customers feel safe, so that we can help those who are due sight tests or have discovered issues during lockdown.”

The actor starred in Hollyoaks between 1995 to 1998 as James ‘Jambo’ Bolton before moving into comedy, where he played Gaz Wilkinson in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps for 10 years between 2001 and 2011.

In 80 episodes, he starred in 79 of them.

He most recently played DC Spike Tanner in the black comedy/police procedural drama No Offence between 2015 and 2018.
